Discover the Oak Veneer and White Lacquer Bedside Table

Compact at 53 cm wide and 44 cm high, this bedside table with an oak veneer is low enough to sit below the mattress line on a standard bed, which keeps the sight line across the room uninterrupted. The pale oak and the white lacquer work together rather than competing: the timber supplies warmth and grain, the lacquer supplies a clean flat plane, and the result stays light in a room where a dark nightstand would sit as a hole in the corner.

Storage is 2 drawers on hidden guides with a push to open mechanism, so the front carries no handles and the drawers glide on runners you never see. Hidden guides also protect the drawer sides from the wear that surface-mounted runners cause over years of use. Adjustable legs guarantee stability on a floor that is not quite flat, which is worth setting properly on any push-latch drawer, as a slight lean is the usual reason a catch stops holding.

Kave Cares Materials and Simple Maintenance

This piece is part of the Kave Cares design programme, built with FSC certified wood from sustainable forests with controlled felling, and the body uses E0 low formaldehyde emission wood. Both points come down to the same thing in a bedroom: a panel that releases very little into the air of a room you sleep in for a third of your life, made from fibre whose origin is documented. Maintenance splits between the two surfaces. Wipe the white lacquer with a soft damp cloth and dry it at once, avoiding solvents and abrasive creams that leave a dull patch on a smooth finish. Give the oak veneer a dry cloth for dust, use coasters, and never let water stand on the top, as veneer lifts at the edges before it fails anywhere else. Away from direct sun, the oak and the lacquer age at a similar rate and stay in balance.
